ROCKWALL – Special needs children who have physical, intellectual or medical needs that keep them from being able to function in a typical camp setting can still attend day camp this summer thanks to the  JER Chilton YMCA’s “Angel Camp.”

“At Angel Camp, campers will get to participate in typical day camp activities such as canoeing, archery, riflery, swimming, crafts, group games, and much more; all under the close supervision of our highly trained staff,” said Camp Program Coordinator Lauren Atkins.

“The goal is to allow every child to participate in every activity by making slight accommodations and adjustments to fit the activity to the child’s skill level. We go on one field trip each week. Field trips this summer will be horseback riding, the zoo, bounce houses, parks, and more.”

The state-licensed day camp costs $50 for a two-week session (financial assistance is available) and each child is allowed to sign up for two sessions, which run weekdays from 8 am – 6 pm. Lunch and a snack are provided daily.

Angel Camp has two four week session that hold a maximum 25 kids and we maintain low group ratios. Session dates are:

Session 1:

Week 1: June 16-20

Week 2: June 23-27

Session 2:

Week 1: July 7– 11

Week 2: July 14– 18

Session 3:

Week 1: July 21-25

Week 2: July 28– August 1

Session 4:

Week 1: August 4-8

Week 2: August 11-14
